Restoration of a residential building at 11-13 Svobody Street

Name of Works

Restoration of the building at 11-13 Svobody Street. Kharkiv

Info

A typical “Stalinka” of the 1950s, it suffered significant damage at the beginning of the war in 2022. Its restoration was an important architectural challenge, as the building is located in the historic center of Kharkiv, an area with an eclectic architectural environment.
The reconstruction project envisages the creation of a modern facade that visually complements the architectural character of the street. Instead of the faceless appearance of the Soviet building, the building received clearer lines, structured vertical elements and a consistent color scheme. The combination of light and dark tones emphasizes the severity of the forms, and the use of modern materials ensures durability and energy efficiency.
The basement received accent cladding, which gives the building a sense of stability and massiveness. Thanks to this, the building is harmoniously combined with the neighboring historical buildings without creating dissonance.
The project also takes into account the arrangement of the adjacent territory: pedestrian zones have been renovated, green spaces and lighting have been thought out, which will increase the comfort and safety of the urban space.
