Shelter for children’s hospital in Kharkiv

Name of Works

Shelter for a children's hospital in Kharkiv

Info

In a city that is constantly subjected to rocket, bomb and drone attacks, a stable children's hospital is a critical facility.
To ensure the safety of patients and medical staff, a modern shelter was created, equipped with spacious reception areas, specially equipped wards for children, full bathrooms and hygiene areas.
There are operating and manipulation rooms that allow for complex medical interventions, even if the hospital is operating in the shelter mode.
Resilient engineering solutions were a key component of the project and its biggest challenge.
Under the constant threat of shelling and blackouts, it was critical to ensure the uninterrupted operation of all communications (ventilation, air conditioning, water supply, and an autonomous power system).
The project is unique for the construction industry. Few countries have experience in designing and constructing underground facilities with such a complex infrastructure that can operate autonomously for a long time, even during active hostilities.
